2026

Now

I'm exploring a backlog of ideas and projects I've been eager to tackle.
2025
With NL Acoustics integrated into FLIR Solutions (a Teledyne subsidiary), it felt like the right time to close this chapter and look toward new horizons.
2022
We were scaling internationally at an exponential rate, gaining interest from Teledyne, who made a majority investment in 2022. I continued as CEO, guiding the company through sustained growth and strong profitability.
2015

CEO and Co-Founder

NL Acoustics
We founded NL Acoustics, a global B2B hardware and software company, in 2015 - after having built early acoustic-camera prototypes partly in my parents' garage (as is tradition). From day one, the goal was to make acoustic imaging accessible to many. With little competition at the time, and little market data, we were effectively creating a new market for industrial acoustic cameras. Early on I worked on a large variety of hands-on tasks: embedded (our first camera UI), web (early cloud functionality), AI (fault classification), sales/partners, pitching, product-market fit. As we grew toward 50 people, I shifted from hands-on work on the product to building a compact organization, running day-to-day activities, and keeping us moving in the right direction with the right priorities.
2014

Doctoral Candidate

Aalto University
When Robert mentioned a part-time opportunity to work toward a PhD at Aalto University, I jumped at it - the collaboration was a welcome change from solo entrepreneurship. I worked on modeling acoustic responses as constrained optimization problems, but the growing momentum of NL Acoustics eventually demanded my full focus.
2013
I met Jonas at a mutual friend's birthday party, and we hit it off immediately. We started brainstorming commercial acoustic cameras, astonished by how expensive and needlessly complex existing solutions were. Why should you need a PhD to use something that could be accessible to anyone? That meeting sparked Noiseless Acoustics (later renamed NL Acoustics).
2012

Founder

Kaistale
After less than a year as an acoustical designer, the itch to pursue entrepreneurship was too strong to ignore. With a rented room in a clothing company as my office, I started freelancing in software and acoustics - both to pay the bills and to fund early work on Noiseless Acoustics. It taught me a lot about the basics (and challenges) of running a business.
2012

Acoustical Designer

Helimäki Akustikot
While at Lemminkäinen, I completed my Master's thesis on residential acoustic problems and connected with the team at Helimäki. That led to my first full-time role in acoustics, focused on construction consulting, design, and standardized acoustic measurements.
2012

MSc in Acoustics and Structural Mechanics

Aalto University
I graduated in 2012 with an MSc in Acoustics and Structural Mechanics.
2008

Software Developer

Lemminkäinen
I pitched a solution for sharing site information and was given the chance to build it, becoming the lead developer for a reporting and contract management system. I built a custom CMS from scratch that was eventually rolled out to 100+ construction sites internationally. Later on, managing this system brought some of the first revenue for my early entrepreneurship career.
2008

Part Time Site Engineer

Lemminkäinen
I managed some paperwork and administrative tasks for a couple of construction sites.
2007

Quality Engineer Trainee

Lemminkäinen
I consider this my first "real job" relevant to my studies and career. Before this job, I'd worked in convenience stores, a hamburger joint, a biomedical research institute, and as a substitute teacher. I worked at Alfred A. Palmberg, a construction company and subsidiary of Lemminkäinen.
